Start Scheduling Your Student's Success

Academic success is never guaranteed, but there are things you or your student can start early to help reach yours, or their ultimate level of desired education. From elementary school to PhD programs, having a solid schedule is one thing that is absolutely necessary to succeed. More so for older learners than children, knowing the importance of staying on schedule will help to stay on top of academics and make it through school with much less stress. To help you or your children, The Tutoring Center, Wichita has these tips to give when planning your schedule.

Buy a BIG Calendar

Obviously, you will need somewhere to record everything. We suggest buying a big desk calender or giant wall mounted calendar; something that will be sure to catch attention. Often times, little pocket schedulers are good for day-to-day tasks, but for a long term plan, we recommend more space.

Mark the Most Important First

At the beginning of the year most teachers and professors provide a very detailed syllabus, with all the important dates of exams, quizzes, tests, projects, papers, etc. This is so you have plenty of time to prepare. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, take all of the syllabuses and mark EVERY important date in red. It's also a good idea to make notes a week, or two weeks prior to remind you!

Stay Current

There will be smaller assignments periodically that will also need to be marked on the scheduler. Be sure nothing is missed. Forgetting to put something on the schedule can end up in a rushed or unfinished assignment. Always remember to put important due dates on your calendar, it can save your grade.

Make It Fun

Not everyday at school has to be solely about studying. Use the academic schedule to remind you when birthdays of friends and teachers are. Also, you can include fun facts like “National Apple Pie Day” or “National Teacher Appreciation Day”. Whatever you want to include, it's up to you!
